La Playa in January

We took a late afternoon walk on the playa today.  Chloe ran off some of her terrier energy, Graham collected beach finds, and Meghann took pictures.  We have been having some lovely winter weather here in España.  Hope you are having a feliz Sunday!

Bruges: beer, beauty, and bicicletas

Over the MLK Day long weekend, we headed norte to Bruges, Belgium.  It only took a car, plane, and train to get there.

Our first train ride together, from Brussels to Bruges.
After checking into our hotel and getting the great news about the arrival of our niece, Abbi, we headed out to get dinner and some celebratory beers.  On our way to the pub, we passed through the main square.  Even though Christmas was weeks before, some of the buildings still had lights and decorations up.  We could see why the city is such a popular holiday destination, even without it's Christmas market.

El Segundo Delivery

Yesterday we told you about an exciting delivery that happened on our first day in Bruges - the arrival of our niece.  We hinted at a second delivery that was made the day after we got back, but we wanted Abbi to have a post all to herself.  She made us a tio and tia, so she deserves it.  Our other big arrival (literally big) was this:

Tio and Tia

There were dos deliveries recently:  one on the first day of our trip to Bruges and one the day after our return.  The first, biggest, best, most exciting delivery was our niece!  We are officially Tio Graham and Tia Meghann.  Say "hola" to Abbigail:

She was born on Friday (the 13th!) right as we were checking in to our hotel. Thanks to some international phone calls, Meghann was able to speak with her sister and her madre.  We also had a chance to talk to Abbi on the phone and let her know that we can't wait to meet her in February.  After that, we celebrated our new tio-and-tia status with some Belgian cervezas.  Bienvenida, Abbigail!

Pitufo Town

*In keeping with our New Year's resolutions (we went to the gym 3 days in a row!), we are trying to blog more often.  We left a lot of 2011 out, and want to catch up before moving on with the nuevo year.

Do you remember our roadtrip to Ronda?  Well, after we left Ronda, we drove a little farther to Juzcar, normally a traditional pueblo blanco.  But this summer it was painted blue.  Why blue?  Sony paid to have the town painted with over 1000 gallons of blue paint for the movie premiere of "Los Pitufos".  Who are the Pitufos?  They're these guys:

6 Months y Seaweed

When we first moved to Puerto, we heard about an amazing restaurant right here in town, called Aponiente.  We could hardly believe that the New York Times wrote an article naming it one of 10 Restaurants Worth a Plane Ride.  The thought of a Michelin-starred meal just minutos away in our tiny town was too bueno to be true. We knew we would have to check it out, we just needed the right excuse to go. Tuesday, the 3rd, was our 6-month anniversary (monthiversary?) so Graham made reservations!

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

Hola 2012!  We've all said adios to 2011 (it was a good year - we got married, we moved to Spain, Graham learned to order a beer in Spanish) but the holiday season isn't over yet here in Spain.  While people in the States are already taking down their Christmas trees, putting away the Mannheim Steamroller CDs, and folding their ugly sweaters, the Spanish are still in full swing.
